Having a tooth extracted after a severe dental trauma or untreated tooth decay can cause several complications. Beyond the changes in your overall oral function, it can also leave you with a smile you don’t like and affect the clarity of your speech.
While a dental bridge can certainly replicate the tooth’s appearance and much of its function, it will likely lack the strength of the original tooth. To fully replace the natural strength and feel of the tooth, you will need a dental implant restoration.
This involves an outpatient oral surgery where Dr. Rick Jackomis will make an incision in the gums of the void. He will then drill a narrow channel in the underlying bone tissue. A titanium abutment will then be screwed into the channel in the bone and your gums will be sutured closed.
Titanium is known for being biologically safe and will completely fuse with your natural bone tissues to provide an anchor that feels just as strong as the original tooth.
When the abutment has completely fused into place, Dr. Rick Jackomis can start the process of installing a dental crown. This will fully restore the missing tooth’s presence and function in your mouth.
